Golf star visits Banyan GC ahead of World Cup in China

Nicolas Colsaerts

HUA HIN, Thailand (Nov. 21, 2011) – The 75th ranked golfer in the world, Nicolas Colsaerts, warmed up for this week’s Omega Mission Hills World Cup in China by spending time at Banyan Golf Club on Nov. 19.

The 2011 Volvo China Open champion worked on match-play strategies with fellow Belgian and World Cup teammate Jerome Theunis before holding a one-hour clinic for local juniors at the driving range.

The 29-year-old also participated in Banyan’s monthly golf-and-wine event, capped by a gourmet, five-course dinner at the club’s Terrace Restaurant.

During the prize-giving portion of the dinner, Colsaerts told the audience he was particularly impressed with Banyan’s back nine, and particularly holes 15-18.

He also told Banyan GC General Manager Stacey Walton that he used a driver and 3-wood earlier in the day to make birdie at the long, par-5 12th hole.

Colsaerts currently sits 17th on the European Tour Race to Dubai money list. The World Cup begins Nov. 23 at Mission Hills Haikou’s Blackstone Course.
